Historical European Martial Arts, or HEMA for short, involves the study and practice of historical European fighting techniques formerly practiced across Medieval and Renaissance Europe ranging from the 1300s-1800s. It is a community dedicated to not only physically recreating these martial arts, but is on the pioneering edge of discovering, translating, and interpreting the vast amount of surviving manuals written by the European fencing masters of old.
You're invited to come see for yourself how weapons such as the longsword, messer, and sabre were actually used in combat and sport!
